The round
Anthropic said it raised $30 billion in Series G funding at a $380 billion post-money valuation, led by GIC and Coatue and co-led by D. E. Shaw Ventures, Dragoneer, Founders Fund, ICONIQ, and MGX. The announcement lists dozens of other participants, including Accel, Altimeter, BlackRock affiliated funds, Fidelity Management & Research Company, General Catalyst, Goldman Sachs Alternatives, Jane Street, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Qatar Investment Authority, Sequoia Capital, Temasek, Microsoft, and Nvidia. [1]
Anthropic said the money would fund frontier research, product development, and infrastructure expansion. The same announcement disclosed run-rate revenue of $14 billion, sevenfold growth over the prior year in customers spending more than $100,000 annually, and 500 customers spending more than $1 million annually, up from about a dozen two years earlier. It said 8 of the Fortune 10 were customers. [1]
The number the summary leads with
Anthropic said Claude Code's run-rate revenue had passed $2.5 billion and that its weekly active users had doubled since January 1, six weeks before the announcement. It also said public GitHub commits attributed to Claude Code made up 4 percent of the worldwide total. [1]
Atlas interpretation: A revenue figure for one product line is a routine thing to disclose in a funding announcement. A usage figure that doubled in six weeks is not, and it is the number the summary above picks out as the headline: a growth-stage company still describing its coding tool's adoption in doubling terms is closer to the language of an early product launch than a later-stage fundraise, and Anthropic chose to lead with it anyway. [1]
More than doubled in five months
Anthropic's prior priced round, Series F, had closed on September 2, 2025 at a $183 billion post-money valuation. The Series G valuation of $380 billion, reached five months and ten days later, is a little over double that figure. [1][3]
TechCrunch's report on the close noted that OpenAI was reported to be seeking roughly $100 billion in new funding at a valuation near $830 billion around the same period, and quoted Anthropic CFO Krishna Rao saying Claude was becoming more central to how businesses work. [3]
Atlas interpretation: The summary's claim that private markets had stopped pretending these were startups is supported by the pace here rather than the size alone: a $380 billion valuation is large on its own terms, but a valuation more than doubling in under half a year is the part that would look strange in any other industry's fundraising history. This round would be surpassed again within four months by Anthropic's own Series H, so the doubling described here was not the last one. [1][3]
