Preliminary intentions, with the unit stated correctly
OpenAI announced that Samsung Electronics and SK hynix planned to scale memory production toward 900,000 DRAM wafer starts per month. SK’s announcement described a memory-supply letter of intent and a data-center memorandum of understanding. Wafer starts are a manufacturing-capacity measure, not a count of completed high-bandwidth-memory chips. [1][2]
The published scope does not establish completed supply
The sources described plans and opportunities to explore or assess additional Korean data-center capacity. They did not disclose finalized purchase commitments, prove achievement of the projected capacity or establish completed facilities. The documents’ unpublished contractual terms also do not justify a blanket conclusion about the legal effect of every clause. [1][2]
