An existing community adopts an institute structure
On March 2, 2023, EleutherAI announced that it was forming a nonprofit research institute. The announcement said more than twenty regular contributors were now conducting research full-time, addressing the limits of relying on research performed alongside other jobs. [1]
The group said it would retain public participation and access to its research community. The dated primary post and contemporary reporting establish the announcement, not an exact legal incorporation day or the beginning of all earlier EleutherAI model work. [1][2]
