Generally Intelligent releases Avalon for reinforcement learning

Generally Intelligent, later renamed Imbue, released Avalon, a simulator and benchmark for reinforcement-learning generalization across procedural 3D worlds. The public artifact preceded the October 24 paper submission.

The artifact came before the paper

Avalon's public GitHub demo release was published on October 20, 2022. This is the dated artifact anchoring the benchmark release in this chronology, without establishing the first-ever availability of its code. The company post describes open-sourcing a reinforcement-learning simulator and benchmark. The paper was submitted four days after the GitHub release and describes 20 tasks with shared dynamics, actions and rewards, allowing researchers to test transfer between environments and tasks.
