From learning environments to agent tools
Imbue builds software for creating, modifying and controlling AI agents. Its about page dates the company to 2021. In September 2023 it explicitly renamed Generally Intelligent to Imbue, retaining its research into reasoning models and practical agents. The earlier name belongs to this same company record. [1][2]
Under the Generally Intelligent name, it published an Avalon demo release on GitHub on October 20, 2022. The project supplied a simulator and benchmark for studying how reinforcement-learning agents generalize across procedurally generated worlds. The GitHub release timestamp anchors this date; the company post describes the project without independently resolving the article’s observed display-date discrepancy. [3][5]
Giving developers control over coding agents
Imbue subsequently moved into tools for working with agents. Its September 26, 2025 Sculptor announcement offered downloads for Apple Silicon Macs and Linux, following an earlier research preview. Sculptor organizes coding agents in isolated environments and supports reviewing their work and pairing with them in an IDE. This is a software product alongside the company's model and agent research. [4]
