Apache Spark 1.0 releases stable core APIs and expanded machine learning

Release and source context

The Apache Software Foundation announced Spark 1.0 source and prebuilt downloads. The release established stable core APIs, expanded MLlib and streaming support, and introduced Spark SQL, connecting distributed data computation with more machine-learning workflows. [1]

Stable core APIs did not make the new Spark SQL component final; SQL was still alpha. [1][2]
