A company contributing to an open project
Zilliz builds database technology for storing, indexing and searching embedding vectors. Its engineers created Milvus, which the company’s 2023 announcement identified as an LF AI & Data graduated project. Commercial work around that database should be distinguished from corporate ownership of a foundation-hosted project. [1]
GPU support at beta stage
The Milvus 2.3.0 beta artifact was published on March 20, 2023. Its notes describe GPU-based RAFT and FAISS indexes and credit named NVIDIA contributors. Zilliz’s GTC announcement followed on March 21. Neither date should be used for the later stable 2.3 release. [2][1]
