Agents inside HR and finance processes
Workday builds cloud software for human resources and finance. Its AI work puts agents alongside processes such as recruiting, payroll, financial audit and business-process optimization, where a useful result depends on the organization's records and permissions as well as a model's language capabilities. [1][4]
A June 2025 release listed several Illuminate agents as available on Workday Marketplace. The same announcement described Agent Gateway as future early-adopter access. The distinction matters: a released recruiting or audit agent did not establish that the proposed cross-agent management layer was already usable. [4]
Integrations and a completed acquisition
Workday agreed to acquire Pipedream in November 2025. The agreement described Pipedream's connectors as a way for agents to reach applications outside Workday. That contribution is the integration layer around an agent, not a new foundation model. [2]
Workday's subsequent fiscal-2026 filing lists Pipedream among its acquisitions. The historical event records the agreement, while the later filing establishes that ownership is no longer merely proposed. No exact closing day is inferred from that broader fiscal-year statement. This explains the current relationship without rewriting the permanent event date. [3]
