Reviewing and testing generated code
Qodo builds AI tools for code review and software quality. The company announced its Qodo name in September 2024 and explicitly identified itself as formerly CodiumAI. This is one company record with a supported historical alias, rather than a new actor created merely by the brand change. CodiumAI should also not be confused with Codeium, the former Windsurf brand. [1][2]
Under its earlier name, the team introduced AlphaCodium on January 17, 2024, following its first paper submission the previous day. The work used a staged process of problem reflection, test generation, code generation and refinement to address programming problems with existing language models. Its contribution was a workflow for using models, rather than a separately trained foundation model. [5][3]
The authors supplied a public implementation alongside the research. That makes the work inspectable beyond a benchmark headline. It also connects Qodo's research history to its product focus: checking generated changes and supplying repository and testing context are substantive parts of software development, rather than consequences that can be assumed from generating plausible code.
