Infrastructure around AI systems
Cisco supplies networking, security, observability and collaboration products. Those sit around AI workloads as infrastructure and operational controls, a different role from creating a frontier language model. Its AI security work also includes controls specifically aimed at the models and applications running on that infrastructure. [1][3]
Adding specialized AI security
Cisco's August 2024 Robust Intelligence acquisition announcement described bringing specialized model and application protection into its security offering. The original post later recorded completion in a September 24 update. The agreement and the completed ownership relationship are separate points in the chronology. [2]
The acquired company and later offerings
Cisco's current account identifies Robust Intelligence as part of the foundations for Cisco AI Defense and Foundation AI. This is a documented path from an independent specialist into a larger supplier's portfolio. Product scope and names can expand after an acquisition, so the present portfolio is not a description of everything available on the announcement date. [3]
