Molecular design as a computing problem
Chai Discovery builds models and software for understanding and designing biological molecules. Its current platform describes computer-aided molecular design, a role that connects AI research with the experimental work needed in drug discovery. [1]
Chai-1 creates a public research artifact
The September 2024 Chai-1 launch offered biomolecular structure predictions through a web interface and released downloadable code and weights. The model handles proteins, small molecules and nucleic acids. Its reported benchmark comparisons measure specified prediction tasks, rather than patient outcomes. [2]
Hosted access and historical download terms
The launch offered free hosted access including commercial applications, while its original downloadable artifacts carried a noncommercial community license. The current repository identifies Apache 2.0 for code and weights. Keeping those versions distinct avoids treating a later license change as the terms of the original release. [2][3][4]
