Music rights in a model partnership
BMG works across music publishing and recordings. Its current company description says the BMG and Concord combination operates under the BMG name and remains part of Bertelsmann with a minority investor. The stated 2008 origin belongs to BMG’s business history, rather than proving that every part of the current combined company was formed then. [1]
Its August 2026 Suno agreement established a framework for recordings and compositions, participating artists’ opportunities and compensation, and prior-use claims. Those company-described terms do not establish that every artist or every work opted into every AI use. [2]
The September 9 v6 release explicitly names BMG as a co-development partner. That contribution connects the rights business to a released AI music service, rather than treating catalog ownership alone as model authorship. Artist-specific opt-in experiences were still described as future work at release. [3]
