Grok Bot in Tesla Cars: Voice Errands, Connectors and Access

Grok Bot reached supported Tesla cars on September 22, 2026. Connectors link email and calendars; voice errands initially required SuperGrok Heavy.

From answering questions to running errands

Tesla announced on X at 9:11 am Pacific on September 22, 2026 that Grok in its cars "can now do meaningful work for you", and that with Connectors a driver can manage an inbox, clean up a calendar or talk through existing files, chats and tasks hands-free. Elon Musk posted "Grok @Bot now in your Tesla!" about half an hour later, and that evening the official Grok account said Grok Bot and Connectors could now be used in a Tesla. [1][4][5]

Grok was already in Tesla cars as a voice assistant that could set navigation, location-based reminders and cabin settings. The September change moved it from controlling the car to doing outside tasks. Early-access users showed it placing a Starbucks order while the car drove itself to the store under FSD (Supervised), confirming the drink and total before submitting, and checking out an Amazon cart. [2][3][6]

Connectors reach the accounts, Grok Bot does the errands

The launch bundled two features. Connectors are sign-in links to outside services such as Gmail and Google Calendar, set up once in the Grok phone app and then available in the car. Grok Bot takes multi-step jobs: a usual coffee order, a reservation, an appointment, a purchase. There is no separate app on the car's screen; both run inside the existing Grok voice session, opened from the app launcher, the steering wheel microphone button or "Hey Grok". [2][3][6]

Dataconomy reported that the in-car Grok needs an AMD infotainment processor, vehicle software 2025.26 or later, and Premium Connectivity or Wi-Fi, that Tesla still called the assistant a beta, and that Grok could place calls from a linked phone but not yet send text messages. [3]

Who could use it

Connectors were open to all users, while the errand agent was limited to SuperGrok Heavy subscribers with more tiers promised later. Tesla's own post does not state that split; it comes from early-access users posting at launch and from same-day reporting. Dataconomy put SuperGrok Heavy at $300 a month. [6][2][3]

A new front end for an existing agent

Atlas interpretation: The car did not get a new agent. It got a voice front end to Grok Bot, the product xAI launched six weeks earlier, whose Bots work from a cloud computer and reach accounts through sign-ins and connectors. The novelty is the setting: a driver delegating purchases and email by voice while the car drives, with approval reduced to confirming an order out loud. [2][5][7]

Atlas interpretation: It is also distribution between companies Elon Musk runs. Tesla committed $2 billion to xAI in January, and here it put xAI's paid agent in front of drivers whose cars meet the requirements, while gating the agent itself behind xAI's most expensive consumer plan. [1][3]
