Pinecone makes its serverless vector database generally available

Pinecone’s serverless vector database moved from public preview into general availability on AWS. The architecture separates reads and writes, and storage and compute, for vector retrieval workloads.

Availability with a specific architecture

The May 21 announcement followed a public preview and described object-storage-based vector retrieval with separately scaling compute. Initial general availability was on AWS; later cloud expansions are separate milestones. Company cost and answer-quality comparisons are not treated as workload-independent results. [1][2]
