Search and context for large codebases
Sourcegraph builds tools for searching and understanding software repositories. Code search and Deep Search help developers investigate how a large codebase works and obtain context for changes. That is also a useful layer for AI coding systems: an answer or patch needs the relevant existing code, rather than only the current file or a user's prompt. [1]
On December 2, 2025, Sourcegraph and Amp announced that they were becoming independent companies. The announcement separated Sourcegraph's code-search business from Amp's coding agent, with different company leadership. It did not describe Amp as another Sourcegraph product line that would remain under the same management. [2]
Sourcegraph's maintained support guidance now directs Amp issues to Amp's own team and explicitly says Sourcegraph no longer manages the service. The two organizations therefore have separate Atlas records. Their shared history explains the relationship, while current support and product responsibilities establish the operational separation.
