Clinical documentation as an AI application
Nabla builds ambient documentation, dictation and workflow tools for healthcare organizations. Its current company account identifies operating hubs in Paris and New York. The product’s role is to turn encounter information into material clinicians can use in their existing workflows. [1]
Copilot begins as a video-consultation tool
At the March 2023 Copilot launch, the incoming chief medical officer described a Chrome extension for clinicians entering the US market. This was a specific documentation application built with language technology, rather than an autonomous medical practitioner. [2]
Clinicians direct the resulting note
Nabla’s March 2024 Magic Edit feature let clinicians regenerate notes using typed directions or predefined choices, such as changing a section’s level of detail. That makes editing and review part of the product. The company’s time-saving claims should be distinguished from evidence of diagnostic accuracy or better health outcomes. [3]
