From execution software to deployment
Modular develops software for running AI across hardware environments. Its stack includes the Mojo programming language, MAX model execution and serving, and managed or customer-cloud deployment options. The company offers shared endpoints, dedicated endpoints and support for custom models, spanning low-level execution and the operational layer around it. [1]
The ecosystem role is portability: applications need a way to execute and serve models as compute options change. Modular's products target that boundary between model software and hardware. The product descriptions establish the offered stack, rather than proving identical performance on every supported processor. [1]
Adding cloud operations, then joining Qualcomm
The February 10, 2026 BentoML transaction added managed deployment expertise around MAX and Mojo. Modular described the teams becoming one, with the BentoML open-source project continuing. BentoML's own announcement characterized this as a product acquisition. [3]
On July 29, 2026, Qualcomm completed its acquisition of Modular. The release explicitly named Modular Inc. as the acquired company and said Mojo, MAX and Modular Cloud would continue. This completed company purchase supports a Qualcomm parent relationship, separately from the earlier BentoML product transaction. EE Times reported the completed acquisition the following day. [4][5]
