Security around model interactions
Lakera develops tools for protecting AI applications against prompt attacks, data leakage and related threats, alongside red-team testing. Its role is in the application and agent security stack: evaluating or filtering an interaction is different from training the underlying foundation model. [1]
An agreement followed by a completed sale
Check Point announced an agreement to acquire Lakera on September 16, 2025. Despite the press release's acquisition headline, its body described an agreement. That date should not be read as the transaction's completion. [2]
Check Point's subsequent annual filing states that it acquired all outstanding shares of Lakera AI AG on October 22, 2025. That completed company acquisition supports the current ownership relationship with Check Point Software Technologies. [3]
A wider security platform
The buyer described Lakera's capabilities as an addition to its existing enterprise security offering. Combining runtime AI protections with other controls is the stated product strategy; it does not establish that every attack is detected or that every planned integration shipped when the deal was announced.
