Drug design rather than a single prediction service
Isomorphic Labs builds AI technology for drug discovery, including an internal pipeline and partnered programs. Its technology account describes a drug-design engine that extends beyond structure prediction. The company’s origin in DeepMind does not, by itself, specify its current immediate legal owner. [1]
A documented co-development role
Isomorphic Labs and Google DeepMind introduced AlphaFold 3 in May 2024. The model predicts biomolecular complexes including proteins, nucleic acids and small molecules. The launch included a hosted server for noncommercial academic research; computational structure predictions are inputs to discovery, not evidence that a candidate medicine works in patients. [2]
Contributing to biological data infrastructure
In the October 2026 Virtual Biology Initiative expansion, Isomorphic Labs joined Google DeepMind and Meta in a collective $300 million commitment. The source names it as a founding member helping generate a multimodal data foundation. This is a specific resource contribution to model-building infrastructure, rather than a demonstrated virtual-cell treatment capability. [3]
