Using a design as context for generation

Figma's AI work connects visual design with interactive prototypes and code. Figma Make can start with a written request or existing Figma frames, using their structure and metadata to preserve design intent while adding behavior. The original announcement named Claude 3.7 Sonnet as its model at that time. [1]

This makes the design file part of the input to generation, alongside natural language. Teams can test how a proposed interface feels and revise it in context, rather than treating the first generated image as the final design. Figma supplies the design workflow and application around the model. [1]

A beta followed by wider access

Following its May 2025 introduction, Figma Make moved into general availability in July. The release let all users try Make, with different capabilities and usage limits by seat and plan. Importing a Figma library and connecting a backend were among the features available by that milestone. [2]

General availability of Make did not mean every related function had left beta: publishing Make files was still beta in the July announcement. The historical access terms also should not be read as current pricing. The milestone establishes a broader usable prototyping tool, with its specific rollout limits intact. [2]
