Agents across the software workflow
Factory builds Droids, coding agents available through developer tools and collaboration surfaces. Its individual-plan terms identify the contracting company as The San Francisco AI Factory, Inc. The Factory name refers to this software company, rather than to a model family or a general category of agent systems. [1][2]
Factory opened general access on May 28, 2025. Its announcement covered code changes, repository search, specifications, incident investigation and pull-request review. Droids could work with local development environments and remote execution, allowing an engineering task to span code and the surrounding workflow. [3]
The company's contribution is an agent product and execution layer for software engineering. Model routing and connections to an editor or team workflow are parts of that system; they do not make Factory the developer of each underlying model. Its current product documentation describes the supported surfaces, rather than independently establishing how reliably agents complete a customer's work. [1]
