A company and an application platform

Dify is the business name and AI application platform of LangGenius, Inc. Definition 1.3 of the company's terms identifies LangGenius as the corporation doing business as Dify, connecting the company behind the software with the product developers use. [1]

The platform connects model providers, external tools and workflow logic. In its 1.0 release, models and tools became separately installable plugins, with additional plugin types for agent strategies and external extensions. That gives Dify a place in the ecosystem as a visual application and integration layer around foundation models. [2]

The packaged 1.0 release

Dify 1.0 was published on February 28, 2025. It introduced a marketplace and an Agent node whose reasoning strategy could be supplied by a plugin. Extensions could handle external webhook events. These features broadened who could add capabilities to a Dify application without merging every model or tool into the platform's main codebase. [2]

The source repository uses the Dify Open Source License, which adds conditions to Apache 2.0's terms, including restrictions concerning multitenant use and branding. Those conditions are relevant to a company building a hosted service around Dify. The platform's name and public repository should not be read as a promise of unrestricted commercial redistribution.
