An environment for the code an agent writes

Daytona supplies runtime infrastructure in which an agent can execute generated code, manage files and operate processes. The company describes an evolution from development-environment management into a service for AI execution. Its role is the computer and lifecycle controls around an agent's work, while the application chooses the model and task. [1]

That separation matters when code is generated as a task proceeds. An application needs a place to install dependencies, run a command, inspect its output and keep useful state for the next step. Daytona exposes those operations programmatically so an agent can use an execution environment as part of its loop. [2]

Daytona Cloud's agent runtime

Daytona Cloud launched on April 28, 2025. Its announcement described Docker-compatible environments, multiple regions and stateful sandboxes preserving filesystem and process state across interactions. File operations, Git actions, shell commands and code execution were exposed through APIs. [2]

The release also reported sandbox creation below 90 milliseconds under the company's chosen test conditions. That was a vendor runtime measurement, rather than the time needed for a complete agent task or a security evaluation. The substantive product contribution was an available cloud environment for iterative agent work, including its state and execution controls. [2]
