The company followed the project

Confluent’s IPO filing says it incorporated in Delaware in September 2014 as Infinitem, Inc. and changed its name that month. The founders’ account places Kafka’s original development at LinkedIn. Confluent’s role is building and commercializing streaming infrastructure, rather than owning the Apache project merely because its founders created it. [1]

Fresh data for AI applications

IBM agreed to acquire Confluent in December 2025 and announced completion on March 17, 2026. The completion release identifies streaming integrations with watsonx.data, MQ and webMethods. These connect changing enterprise data to applications and agents; they do not establish that every generated answer is accurate. [2]
