AI research and regional measurement
CENIA, the Centro Nacional de Inteligencia Artificial, is a private nonprofit research and technology-transfer corporation in Chile. It receives ANID research-center funding, but that relationship does not establish government or university ownership. Its current LatamGPT work includes model pretraining and post-training for regional linguistic and cultural adaptation. [1][2]
CENIA authored the Latin American Artificial Intelligence Index, or ILIA. On August 11, 2023, it presented initial research results at an event jointly organized with CEPAL. The study measured AI conditions across 12 countries, including infrastructure and talent, research and adoption, and governance. Contemporary reporting describes the actual presentation and findings; this record does not claim that a final downloadable report was released that day. [3][4][5]
