Repository context for coding agents

Augment Code developed coding assistants built around context from an organization's software repositories. Its October 24, 2024 introduction offered a trial of IDE assistance for development teams, including chat, code completion and suggested changes informed by a larger codebase. This was a product-access milestone, rather than a release of model weights. [2]

The company later presented Cosmos as an agent platform for engineering work, with Auggie and its Code Context Engine supplying agent execution and repository understanding. Those products place Augment in the layer between a language model and the code, dependencies and development processes it needs to work with. [1]

On October 8, 2026, Harness announced that it had acquired selected Augment assets: Cosmos, Auggie CLI, the Code Context Engine and related technology. Harness also said the team would join it. That source identifies a transfer of named assets; it does not establish that Harness acquired the entire Augment corporation or settled the lifecycle of any remaining business. [3]
