Arm processors for cloud and AI

Ampere Computing designs processors based on the Arm compute platform, with products intended for cloud workloads and AI computing. It is a chip-design business rather than the owner of the Arm architecture or a contract foundry fabricating every design it sells. [1][2]

Agreement first, ownership later

The March 2025 SoftBank announcement described an agreement subject to closing conditions. A separate announcement confirmed completion on November 25, 2025, US time, and identified Ampere as a wholly owned SoftBank subsidiary. That later record supports the current parent. [1][2]

Company history needs an entity boundary

The March announcement dates the business’s founding to 2018. The closing announcement names Ampere Computing Holdings LLC and gives its legal formation date in 2017. Those descriptions concern different points in the organization’s history, so a copyright year is not used as a substitute for either. [1][2]
