Generation inside established creative tools
Adobe develops creative applications and the Firefly family of generative models. Its AI role includes putting generation directly into tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator and Premiere Pro, where people already edit images, layouts and video. The company’s own history dates its founding to 1982. [1]
The October 2024 Firefly Video Model release added text-to-video and image-to-video generation in a limited public beta. Generative Extend also entered the Premiere Pro beta, letting an editor generate extra footage to cover a gap or hold a shot longer. [2]
Model origin and access matter
That release was limited to an initial group of creative professionals, rather than unrestricted availability of every demonstrated feature. It brought a generative capability into an editing process, while retaining the surrounding tools for selecting, timing and revising the result. [2]
Adobe says its Firefly models are trained on licensed material, such as Adobe Stock, and public-domain content. This is the provider's data-sourcing statement, rather than an independent audit or a guarantee about every output. Current documentation also lists partner-developed models inside Adobe products, so the application surface should not be confused with one model creator or one set of training claims. [3][4]
